Taking time for reflection is a precious gift. It seems that modern life discourages deep thought about our personal lives and the social environment where we exist.
Many of us are looking for quick solutions to make sense about complex problems we face. Choosing a team or political party gives us a sense of belonging that is easy to express. The others are seen as outsiders that are not as worthy as our close knit group. What we miss is the ability to self-reflect and correct errors in our thinking and the way we view and treat other people.
Perhaps we need to devote time to educate ourselves about social development and community healing. Just as “All politics is local.”, we can use our precious time to repair the damage created by people that use fear tactics to divide us for their own personal gain.
